A little bit about us
The Beta Delta Chapter was originally founded on October 9, 1928 at Pittsburg State University. As one of the first fraternities on campus, the chapter found immediate success. Some notable members include Walter McCray, the second head of our Music Department, William Brandenburg, the first president of Pittsburg State, and E. Power Biggs, a famous organist.
After a period of inactivity, 26 men including alumni, students, and current music faculty felt a need to bring Sinfonia back to Pittsburg State University. On November 4, 2001, the Beta Delta Chapter was reestablished. Since then, we have initiated many men who exemplify the ideals of our fraternity.
Currently, the Beta Delta chapter consists of (X) men, all of which share a deep love for music. While we are a music fraternity, that does not make us a music majors club. In addition to the music majors, we currently have the fields of Engineering, History, and Physics represented in our chapter.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Men's Music Fraternity originated at the Boston Conservatory of Music when Ossian Everett Mills formed a little club for men in music. Over 100 years later, it has thrived to become the largest national secret fraternal society in music. Over this century, Sinfonians in nearly every field of study and professional endeavor have transformed music in America. The opportunity of becoming a Sinfonian is offered to as many men as possible who, through a love for music, can assist in the fulfillment of the Fraternity’s Object and ideals either by adopting music as a profession, or by working to advance the cause of music in America.
